A tour based around the heart of Wales and with surrounding mountain scenery we include visits to the coast and the Brecon Beacons together with Steam Train journeys and a Whisky tasting session. We
are based in the fashionable spa town of Llandrindod Wells.
An early morning departure sees us heading South via the Motorway network with coffee stops en route before calling into Chester for lunch. This well known city has much to offer and is a great place for a break in which to just relax or view the many attractions on offer. We continue through the Welsh Marches en route to our hotel. Dinner in the hotel tonight.
After breakfast we travel along the Mountain roads to the beauty spot of Devils Bridge crossing a famous gorge and waterfalls. From here we board the 1902 Vale of Rheidol steam train for the 12 mile nostalgic journey through spetacular scenery to the seaside town of Aberystwyth we have free time here to stroll along the brightly coloured promenade before we return to our hotel for Dinner.
We head north west to the ancient town of Machynlleth which dates back to 1404 and was once the capital of Wales the town has many boutique shops and a quaint market square. From here we continue along the
estuary to Trwyn where we board the train for the 30 minute journey along the coast to Barmouth where we have free time in the town which overlooks Cardigan Bay. Our journey back to the hotel is via glorious
countryside passing the 3,000 ft Cader Idris above Dolgellau. Dinner is served in the hotel.
Today we travel the 30 miles south to the Brecon Beacons National Park with its impressive landscapes of red sandstone mountains. We arrive at the Penderyn Whisky Distillery for a tour and tasting. We snake our way west to begin our return via the Black Mountains before reaching Llandovery with Dinner in the hotel tonight
We depart after breakfast to begin the journey back to Cumbria. We have a coffee stop en route before lunch at Salford Quays in Manchester. We arrive back in Cumbria late afternoon.
