ROYAL RETREATS AND A HIGHLAND SAFARI
We visit an area not only steeped in the history of Clan feuds, battles and Jacobite uprisings but also we visit an area of extraordinary natural beauty. We can enjoy this spectacle and also that of a mountain top Safari. We step back in time visiting some of Scotland's most famous Castles and we also walk in the footsteps of the Royal Family on their famous yacht Britannia.
We leave Cumbria early morning as we travel North stopping for a Coffee break before we visit Glasgow for lunch. After time to explore a little we continue our journey with a visit to Baxter's Visitor Centre north of
Dunblane for a comfort stop before we arrive at our hotel in Blairgowrie where a welcome drink reception awaits. Dinner is served.
Firstly we view the Mickleour Beech Hedge which was planted by Bonnie Prince Charlies Troops in 1745 and is reported to be the largest in the world at 580 yards long and 120 feet high. We then cross the Forth Road Bridge for some free time in Edinburgh before we have an included visit to The Royal Yacht Britannia where we visit the State rooms. We return to our hotel for Dinner.
We journey to Aberfeldy where we board our 4 x 4 Safari vehicles accompanied by a Ranger. We travel through forest, over moorland and hill tracks to 3,000 feet for stunning views. Our Ranger will keep an eye out for varied wildlife, Deer and Eagles. We stop at a Mountain Bothy for a wee dram and shortbread before we return to
our coach. Next stop is Pitlochry where we have free time to explore and have a bite to eat. We then head to Queens View for more stunning scenery before we return to our hotel for Dinner.
Today we head to Glamis Castle which is over 1.00 years old and was the home of The Queen Mum, the birthplace of Princess Margaret and the setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth. Explore the opulent rooms and walk through the majestic gardens. After lunch we turn the tables to a modern building The V and A Museum in Dundee with its stunning architecture wherein there are more than 300 exhibits detailing Scotland's achievements across the world.
We head south calling firstly at The Kelpies and then The Falkirk Wheel where we have a coffee stop. We venture onwards with a trip through the borders stopping for lunch en route before we arrive home late
We are based in Blairgowrie beneath the Cairngorm Mountains at the homely Angus Hotel. Well known in Perthshire this hotel is a favourite with groups and all bedrooms have recently been refurbished. For the more
