Ireland -Hidden Gems of the East


With its fascinating history the east of Ireland has much to offer
visitors, Based in the lovely County Carlow and with a delightful
combination of popular excursions and new attractions, this tour is
sure to be in demand.

Our itinerary

Day One
We leave Cumbria travelling via the Motorway network into north Wales
with comfort stops en route. We arrive at Holyhead in time for the
early afternoon Stena line sailing to Dublin. We have a short journey
across the plains of Ireland reaching our base at Carlow mid evening.
Dinner is served in the hotel

Day Two
We travel today to the Bog of Allen for a guided tour of the award
winning Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park. We discover turf
cutting and have a ride on the Peatland Heritage Railway. The
afternoon is spent with time at leisure in Kildare and a visit to the
Silverware centre in nearby Newbridge. We return to the hotel for

Day Three
A short drive to Huntington Castle and Gardens built in 1625 and still
home to the same family we have a guided tour by a family member who
will enthral us with tales of the beautiful Castle. Enjoy the Castle
, Gardens and tearooms before we spend the afternoon in the charming
seaside town of Wicklow. We include a journey through the Gates of
Hell into Wicklow's infamous Gaol. We return to the hotel for Dinner.

Day Four
Today begins with free time in Waterford founded by the Vikings in 914 you
will have time to look around the town and perhaps visit the Viking
Triangle or visit Waterford Crystal. After lunch we head to Dubrody
to take a tour of the 1840's Famine Ship Experience with its animated
interpretation of Ireland's famine story. Dinner in the hotel.

Day Five
We head back to Dublin for the return Stena Line Ferry to Holyhead we
then journey on to Cumbria making comfort stops en route arriving
home mid evening.
