CAMBRIDGE AND FENLANDS
Enjoy the flat countryside of the Cambridgeshire area where you can see for
miles. This area has much to offer the visitor with its rich history
and of course as a seat of learning through the ages. From Oliver
Cromwell to a Punt on the River Cam there is much to see and do.
We leave Cumbria travelling by Richmond for a coffee stop before having
lunch in Newark. We arrive at our hotel late afternoon. Dinner in the hotel
We travel North through the flat countryside to visit Ely where we have
plenty of time for a look around the Cathedral or a visit to Oliver
Cromwell's house. During the afternoon we visit the American Cemetery
and Memorial. We return to the hotel for Dinner.
A day at leisure in Cambridge. Perhaps take a guided tour of one of the
Colleges, or take a punt on the River Cam or visit the 14 century
Eagle for lunch with its famous ceiling inscribed with the signature
of pilots who flew in WW11. Dinner in the hotel tonight.
We start our day with a visit to Newmarket the home of horse racing we
have some free time before we visit Bury St Edmunds again with some
free time to look around the town. Our return journey sees us travel
through idyllic countryside before arriving back at hotel where
Dinner is served tonight
We return home to Cumbria making coffee stop en route before calling
into York for a late lunch and part of the afternoon free to explore
the historic city. We arrive home late afternoon.
The Holiday Inn Cambridge is conveniently situated on the outskirts of
the city with good access to the local area. Modern and informal the
hotel also has extensive leisure facilities.
