Magical Isle of Man

One of our more popular holiday breaks the Isle of Man is Proud of its diverse culture, fascinating heritage and folklore, the Kingdom of Man’ has a captivating story to tell, steeped in myths and legends, going back thousands of years. We visit the oldest Parliament in the world, take a steam train journey and explore more than 200 sq miles of unspoilt countryside and coast. On an island full of folklore, you never know what will be around the next bend.
Day One we leave Cumbria early morning and travel south to Lancaster for some
free time before we board our ferry from Heysham to Douglas. On
arrival we head for our hotel The Palace and Casino situated on the magnificent Promenade.

Day Two after breakfast we make for the mining village of Laxey where we
visit the famous waterwheel ‘Isabella. Before we board the mountain
railway at the cottage for a trip to Snaefell Peak the highest point
on the island which offers magnificent views. We then head to Ramsay
with some free time in the islands second largest town. We return to
Douglas via parts of the famous TT course passing landmarks of Kates
cottage, Kepplegate and windy corner. Dinner tonight in the Palace hotel.
Day Three after a leisurely breakfast there is a free day in the islands
capital with its Victorian pier and sandy beach, take a ride on the
horse and cart along the seafront, or visit some of the many places
of interest including Museum and Churches. Our hotel is within easy
walking distance of all the local attractions and shops. Dinner is
again served in the hotel tonight.
Day Four after breakfast we have an included journey on the isle of man’s
steam railway the longest narrow guage steam line in the uk stil
operating with it’s original locos and carriages. The 16 mile
journey from Douglas transports you through charming countryside to
Port Erin and Rushen Castle, one of Europe’s finest preserved
medieval castles. We rejoin our coach for a coastal tour along the
western side of the island as we head for Peel with its
Castle, sandy beach, old town centre and of course its famous kippers Peel
is known as one of the best place in the UK to observe basking sharks.
We return to Douglas over Tynwald Hill site of the 1,000 year old
Manx Parliament. Final Dinner in the hotel this evening.
Day Five after breakfast we leave our hosts and head to Douglas Harbour for
the early morning ferry sailing to Heysham arriving shortly after
lunch. We head to Barton Grange Garden Centre for lunch before
heading back to Cumbria arriving back late afternoon.
